Practical Insurance Solutions specializes in not just ATV Insurance, but all types of motorized vehicles like snowmobiles, segways, and golf carts. If you have motorized toys, either gas or electric powered, it is critical to make sure they are properly insured. Here is what you need to know…
Your Home Insurance Policy and Motorized Toys
Your home insurance policy may provide you with some basic liability coverage for your motorized power sport vehicles. However, we always recommend insuring these types of toys separately. There are three main reasons for this… First, if you file a claim for a motorized vehicle under your home policy it may have a significant impact on your home premiums for the next five years. Second, protection under a separate ATV insurance policy is going to be substantially more inclusive than under a home policy. Finally, motorized vehicles policies tend to be fairly inexpensive for the amount protection you receive. In summary, there is little benefit to insuring an ATV under a home policy and significant reasons to have a separate ATV Insurance policy for your motorized vehicles.
Liability insurance covers bodily injury and property damage that you may cause to other people involved in an accident. It does not cover your vehicle or your injuries to yourself.
Guest Passenger Liability
Guess Passenger Liability provides protection in the event that a passenger is injured on the vehicle. This coverage varies depending on the laws of your state and the company issuing the policy.
Collision protection covers damage to your vehicle if you are involved in an accident. Your carrier pays for damages, minus your deductible. Coverage kicks in when you collide with another vehicle or object. Collision protection usually covers the current actual cash value of the vehicle, but some policies allow you to state the value of the vehicle.
Comprehensive coverage pays for damages caused by an event other than a collision, such as theft, fire, or vandalism. The deductible will apply just like on your collision coverage, with the carrier paying for damages above your deductible.
Optional Accessories and Equipment
Comprehensive and collision protection will only cover the factory standard parts on your motorized vehicle. If you have extras like chrome parts, a custom paint job, and towing equipment you need Optional Accessories and Equipment coverage. Some ATV insurance policies may have some basic equipment protection included, but it’s important to double check your individual policy to find verify limits.
